Many of us are forming up in teams and as individuals (using the facilities of the Internet) to fight evil as Super Heroes in the real world. This is all well and good and I applaud those taking part. But there is also evil on line as well. It tends to sprout up everywhere as evil usually does. When you consider how much goes on and takes place within the Internet you can see what a fertile devil’s ground it can be. So for those of you who don’t already know I am working with others to create an on line group to combat said evil. As it concerns everyone on line it will be open to all on line not just RLSH types. After all not everyone that wants to do good also wants to be a Super Hero. Not being 1 to turn down any offer of help when recruiting for such an operation I’ll take whomever I can get. But I expect some sort of positive response from any real hero that reads this. Here is the starting point to go to to check it all out. I’ll be looking forward to seeing you there.

I think we need to rethink how we are doing the super computer club. From past experience we might be able to recruit more people if we have something to show for our efforts. Success brings more success.

One thing I have been thinking about is a website similiar to article one partners.com, in which the profits from tipping off the authorities would be returned to the members in the form of gear, etc. Of course some of this would be held back for activities that didn't generate money. This would be happen by the members acquiring points. When they would accumulate enough points they could would be given stuff.

For example possible tippings could be:

reporting information to crimestoppers
reporting copyright software infringement
reporting tax evasion
reporting gang activity
reporting cable theft

Like a mantra said from boy scouts, keep it simple make it fun. Oh yeah, I have found a payphone you can call me on.

I don’t think the problem is how the site is made and the purpose it is there for as much as it was whom we were appealing to. Basically they are a bunch of lazy posing pretenders who have no desire to do any real work or community service. You shouldn’t have to offer prizes to get folks to act like decent human beings. What we need to do is find a better class of individual to appeal to. The old saying "It’s so hard to find good help!" holds up as well on line as it does off line. There are some exceptions to that but those exceptions are all busier than a 1-legged man at a butt-kicking contest is. What we are hoping to accomplish with the group doesn’t have the wow factor that draws in all the little prattling wannabes. Sure you will get some that will post on the board. But as you may have noticed those folks don’t go to the rest of the site where the actual work was to be done. Many of those who did post on the board post on all of the boards. Having been around for a while I find it comes down to 2 basic reasons. 1 the board was new and they always post on any new board they encounter as a way of checking it out, marking their turf and reserving the screen name they use on line. 2 they are afraid of being left out of what just might become the latest fad. Many run their boards and sites on line like it’s some sort of a popularity contest. They add in useless subjects on their boards, constantly do face lifts to that change very little real content just to look all new and shiny for the wannabes. I didn’t see what we are trying to accomplish with The Super Computer Club as any sort of a popularity contest. What I wanted it to do was what we have stated on the yahoo group site we started out with. I figured you agreed as you used what I said verbatim when you set up the yahoo group site. I think we need to get out of our comfort zone of the RLSH movement and look elsewhere for folks with a little staying power. If what you want is more fun site say for COS and RPG play I don’t have any problem with that and will happily help you make one. It may be that when it comes to public service on line that we are too far ahead of the present curve and need to wait till the rest catch up if they ever do. I’d rather see The Super Computer Club die out than see it perverted to a wannabe heaven. BTW on a practical note if we are going to utilize the pay phone you found, you need to send me it’s number and when to call using NY time as a reference point.

Getting the payphone's number to you will require that I will have to find out the payphone's number. I don't plan on making long distance calls on it. I'm planning on getting vonage to use as my classes will need me to be able to call people.

The reason I mentioned the activities is that they can have a meaningful impact on the real world. Also one of Green scorpions ideas was for rlsh's to help each other out. To me that is what being on a team means.

There does seem to be some interest in the Super Computer club. For instance, I remember one person posting that she wanted to help but didn't have the skills to. For instance, my friend wants to see how it goes for me before helping out. But good people are always busy.

For me I have always been interested in computers and I want to advance my skills to a higher level. I'm also concencerned about the security of modern technology. That's my "angle" if you will.

Maybe it’s just me but the present way The Super Computer Club is structured should appeal to the type of person we want on the team RLSH or not. I know who you are talking about when you said we had someone offering to help but saying they didn’t have sufficient training. It states right on the yahoo group site part of our little endeavor that training will be provided free of charge. But a lot of folks only seem to be aware of the board rather than the entire site. So I contacted that person directly saying that I could give them free 1 on 1 instruction on line to get them the training they needed. I said that all they had to do was say when they would be available for training by replying to my e-mail and to sign up on the yahoo group site part so they would have a place to upload their lessons. We both know how easy it is to sign up on a yahoo group site. But just in case I told them that if they had any problems with it I could assist them in setting it up. So far they have yet to respond. It makes me think that perhaps they were letting their alligator mouth write a check that their candy ass couldn’t cash. Typical wannabe behavior in my opinion. I know this makes me seem a tad on the cranky side (and I am) but I think I’m justified in feeling that way. It should say somewhere on the Pay phone what the number for it is. At least it’s that way for every Pay Phone I have ever encountered no matter who the provider is.

The payphone is a gphone. The company that runs it is gphone.com. I contacted support for the number to the phone though. It doesn't look like one I've seen before either.

I'm wondering how many other people had a similiar problem. One thing I am concerned is with being seen as too harsh in the response. Note how the Israel's when they destroy buildings and kill people how they are looked at when they respond to rocket attacks. I think we need to avoid being seen in that light.

By the way, I found another payphone but it's a noncall back phone. Too bad too it's in a good location. I might be able to call you if you like.

I'm wondering if we need a page for services offered to the public. That way we can send people to that page. Then if they like our services they can might be willing to help us.

Here is a plan Steve. Go to the G phone (whatever g phones are) and make a prearranged local call to someone who has caller ID. That should give you the phone number. Take that number and either e mail it or put it in a Pvt. message to me on this or the super computer club board along with what time you will be near the phone. It’s better for me to call as I have the free long distance plan and you don’t as yet. The Super computer club is a sort of grass roots pull your self up by the bootstraps operation. Before we can think if trying to solicit donations for any services we have to have some to offer. As far as what we are doing there goes it’s all perfectly legal so we don’t have to worry about getting in trouble. All we are doing is providing free training and safe harbors on line. Now some of the more vigilante inclined of the RLSH movement might have hassles with the law but The Super Computer club is as legal as it gets.

I don't think that will work. I've been calling a friend. He called the number and it sounded like a modem. So I don't think you will be able to reach me on it. I will however be getting vonage soon as I get a router from my friend.

My computer is "setup" however somehow my admin password has gotten "lost". I think my sister changed the admin password on it. However it suits me for getting cute with the admin password.

As for getting internet the guy is coming January 2 it up. I'm going to get 20 megabytes internet connection. I am thinking about setting up a server at my location. Any suggestions?

You need 3 basic things to make sure a server works.

1 whatever computer you use for the server has to be left on 24 / 7 to be effective.

2 you have to have a port on your modem open so others can access the server computer.

3 you need an easy to use FTP program. I recommend Golden FTP. It has both free and pay versions and is as idiot proof as it gets.

I need to do more to market the group. But I wonder how many "lurkers" there are. I would like to think people are getting some useful info out of all my posts.

Also, one thing too is there are alot of computer self-help groups out there. For instance on paltalk alone I noticed three when I was messing around with it. Though I wasn't able to find a certain rlsh who's identity shall remain a mystery.
