How Odd. They are acting as though this was a recent idea. But they were training troops using video games and simulations (ers) when I was in the Army. For those who don’t know I got out in 1984. I guess the phrase "Everything old is new again" applies here.

There have been alot of advances in video games since 1982. Maybe they have found new uses for them?

There have been a lot of advances since then. It's pretty much at the point where the only differences are no respawn in real life and the graphics in real life are slightly better.

Advances in technology since1984 yes, but the underlying principle remains the same. Using video games to sharpen the reflexes of the troops and train them in new ways of doing things.
