Drunkards!

Do drunk people cause any else problems. Part of the time I patrol Grenville North Carolina, Proud home of ECU, a bunch of kids who pride themselves on their rampant Alcoholism. While the fact that they recreationally nuke their brain cells on a daily basis doesn't bother me, They do screw my patrols over with their constant screaming full blast for the smallest reasons.
This defiantly held true two monthes ago when there was a string of robberies in a neighborhood near downtown Greenville. While patroling that area to try and catch the people doing it, Every 5 minutes someone would scream in the neighborhood, or even more annoyingly set off an M-80 firecracker, that I would have to respond to just in case.
First off, everyone of these distractions came from a college student and these robberies were publicly announce ever the school e-mail system. Who says, "Hey, That seems cool. I want to walk drunkenly through that area!" That one I will have to chalk up to The brain cells they perge from alcohol and drugs.
Secondly, I have been drunk, most everyone has, but I have never gotten the inclination to randomly scream at the top of my lungs, or set off firecrackers on any random night in the middle of March. Where do they get these things anyway?!?! Aren't they illegal in North Carolina? I wish I had those kind of sources.

Drunk kids are just loud and annoying. Sometimes a few of them really bother me when they act all screwy and crap. Leave the "normal" freaky Portland regulars alone!

I think that for the most part, drunk people can be annoying. Not always, but there are those chosen few who can be real jackasses. On occasion, that jackass has been myself. But I digress.

Honestly, I don't mind drunk kids too much. Most are just looking to have a good time and chat people up. With them, patience and a sense of humour are key in dealing with them.

The only problem comes when you have groups of rowdy drunks looking to start crap or rile you up. Again, patience is key in dealing with that type. As long as you do not give them any ammunition to use against you, you'll do fine. Having said that though, drunks don't think too clearly, so you never know what is ammo for them. Best thing to do is just extricate yourself from the situation as expediantly as possible. Especially if they are in a group.

You know, I remember a trip I took to Seattle back in 1994. My friend and I went to attend a convention. As the night wore on, we proceeded to get drunker and drunker until finally, we got the idea that stealing the pool balls from the bar and dropping them from the roof would be a cool idea. As I recall, it wasn't all that.

Oh yeah- Fireworks are illegal here too (at least the explosive kind). But illegal fireworks are easy as hell to get. It's simply a matter of travelling to a neighbouring state that can sell them, buying them and bringing them back.

I have NO idea where I'm going with this. Anyone out there wanna help a brother out? Anyone?
